Cima di Rapa Sessantina. Cima is a plant in the turnip family that produces edible leaves and a 12-14 inch tall stem with a small broccoli-like head. "Sessantina" means 60 days, but we usually find it's ready to eat in 35-40 days.

60 day sprouting turnip top. Mid-early variety used to make the famous pasta dish 'Orecchiette e Cima di Rapa'. This is a rustic plant that produces many tender sprouting broccoli florets as the "quarantina", but can take up to 60 days. It is said the longer the variety, the better the quality.

Sow: from March - September and harvest June - mid October

Direct sow in shallow drills 30cm apart and thin to 10-15cm within the row. Ensure your seedbed is free from weeds. Avoid sowing in midsummer as it will bolt more easily. Sow in late winter / spring for a summer harvest or towards the end of summer for an autumn crop
